Travis Cottrell is a classically trained vocalist turned much-in-demand studio singer (Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Amy Grant, MercyMe, Third Day). He originally planned to be an opera singer, but his journey took an unexpected turn toward ministry. An accomplished songwriter, Travis was working as an editor at a music publishing house when out of the blue he was asked to fill the worship leader vacancy at his church. That experience led to opportunities to lead worship at a number of student events and taught him the importance of being a worshiper. Embracing the hymns of his childhood and the contemporary choruses of today, Travis uses a blended style of worship. “It’s not about the songs we sing in worship,” he says. “It’s about the heart we offer to the Lord.” |
